Join us as we enjoy a lovely urban walk within Carisbrooke and beyond along Little Para River on Saturday 20^th July 2024

WALK DETAILS

This walk is approximately 9km (allow up to 2-3 hours).

This walk is along shared use paths and trails with some of the walk following the Little Para River.

The walk takes in Harry Bower Reserve, Jenkins Reserve and Carisbrooke Park. We also will visit the Little Para Seed Orchard and the Farm Direct Markets in the Old Spot Hotel will also be along our route, which may interest some people. 

The walk is a Grade 2 walk with some undulation.

MEET TIME/LOCATION

Please arrive at our meet spot below at 8.15am for an 8.30am start.

The walk will start and finish at Harry Bower Reserve in Salisbury Park.

Carparking is available off the end of Riversdale Drive

There are toilets located at our meet spot.

OPTION FOR COFFEE AFTER THE WALK

For anyone keen, we could enjoy a warm or cool drink after the walk at Old Spot Hotel (opens from 8am Saturdays and 9am on Sundays)

WEATHER AND GEAR

If the weather forecast is for extreme weather or a fire ban is issued for the immediate area of the walk, this walk will be cancelled the day before and fully refunded.

We will only cancel last minute (by text message and email) if there is a severe weather warning/thunderstorm warning or weather events that are likely to impact on the safety of our leaders and walkers.

Due to the variability of the weather, the following items will be needed:

- a daypack (25-35 litre) backpack

- 1-2 litres of water

- sun protection (hat, sunnies, suncream) or wet weather gear (check the forecast and plan accordingly!)

- blister kit/personal medication

- high energy snacks/fruit

- boots/comfortable walking shoes

- layerable clothing for before/during/after the walk (eg. jumper/jacket)

- walking poles (optional)

Please ensure you have the minimum gear required as no refunds are possible after booking. If you arrive underprepared without wet weather clothing or the gear listed above, our Leaders have the right to ask you not to walk with us for safety reasons.

Note: All our leaders carry group first aid kits, emergency communication devices and are qualified bushwalking leaders.

IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND

If you are no longer able to attend the walk, and it is BEFORE 5pm the day before the walk, please reply by email wisewomenwalking@outlook.com

If it is AFTER 5pm the day before the walk, please text Cherie on 0438 084 187.

The night before the walk you will receive an email with the mobile number you need to use for last minute cancellations or if you need directions on the morning of the walk.

OTHER INFORMATION

Our walks are all about fun, fitness and friendship - not a personal training session. If we cannot walk and talk at the same time, we are walking too fast! And we never leave anyone behind.

Minimum age requirement for our walks is 15 years old (as long they are accompanied by a supervising adult). Please check with us if unsure.

For the walk to go ahead, we need a minimum of 4 walkers registered by the registration closing time (5pm the day before the walk).  If a walk is cancelled due to the minimum number not being met, participants who have registered will be notified by text the evening before the walk and a refund will be given.

During our walks, photos may be taken for use publicly on our website, social media channels and e-newsletter. If you do not wish for your photo to be taken/used, please notify us via email - wisewomenwalking@outlook.com
